![]() can you clarify which one it actually has. There are several different motors in your taurus. that is the main PCM ground along with a bunch of other stuff in the fuel injection system. there is also a pair of wires sticking out of the wiring harness about 6 or 8 inches from the PCM connector. on multiple locations on the core support. you might just need to clean and inspect them. I have a few quick tests can you examine all the various ground connections first. I will try the most common said advice tomorrow (Tuesday) Will report back with findings Thanks for any help and insight you can provide in advance.Įdit: Thank you all so much for your helpful replies and advice. So the bottom line is this: does it sound like a bad, brand new, fuel pump, or could it be the relay? We're going to try and test to see if the old fuel pump turns on via a 12v current sometime Monday or Tuesday. The module has been replaced in the past, but I wouldn't cross that off the list. It is also related to the circuit in the integrated relay control module. Could it just be a faulty pump?Īlso, I ran an OBD1 tester on the car and it gave me a 543 code which apparently relates to the PCM having some sort of RAM fault. My fuel gauge is reading correctly on the dash, that tells me that the float is working properly and sending information back to he computer. We checked to make sure that the connector is properly inserted, which it was. Now, the fuel pump doesn't turn on at all, doesn't try and prime the engine, and there is no fuel pressure. We replaced it today (the whole assembly), and were sure it was going to fix the problem. ![]() My dad, who was a mechanic of ~12 years, said it was the fuel pump, as it is the original one. I tried starting it a few times, and it almost started, but would then die immediately. I had just enough momentum to coast to the side of the road. This morning as I was going to church, I was almost to my destination when my car started sputtering (like it was out of gas) and promptly died. I'll try and describe it in the most detailed way possible for you all. Can anyone say step by step how to replace a filter and/or pump? We can't afford to pay a mechanic, so having my husband be able to do this on his own would be a blessing.I am in a bit of a pickle with my car. How difficult is it to change the filter and/or pump? Are any special tools needed? My husband looked under the car, and is afraid he doesn't have the tools needed. What about any sort of fuse or switch or other computer/electrical thing? Or could it be the fuel filter? It has over 67,000 miles on the vehicle, and I don't think the filter's ever been changed. ![]() My husband says he can't hear the fuel pump engage when he turns the key on (do newer cars like the 2007 taurus make that tell-tale noise a fuel pump makes?), So he thinks it's the fuel pump. It would turn over (starter & battery are all fine, etc), but it's acting like it's not getting any fuel, and won't actually start. What are the symptoms of a fuel pump failure in a 2007 Ford Taurus SE? Yesterday, after starting up the car, it was running rough (first time it's ever done that since we've had it), then it stalled & wouldn't start back up again.
